{back to wordless wednesday... 5/27}

I have to revisit the post below of my girls playing in the rain as it brought back some very special childhood memories of my own.

I can vividly remember days of being at my Grandmother's house when a summer rain storm would come through. Almost every time, as long as there was no lightening, she would let my sisters and I go out and play in the rain. What fun that was?! What child does not love playing in the rain? It's harmless, innocent, childhood fun!

We were outside last Tuesday when a afternoon rain started. D loves the rain and puddles! But, this was Avery's first 'play in the rain' experience. I was curious to how she would react. As D slowly made her way out into the rain, Avery stood and watched. I know that she was probably thinking that 'we're not supposed to do that.' Finally, looking back over her shoulder with every step, she took off - and oh the giggles. They had the best time in those few minutes.

I strive to be a mother who lets my children have a lot of fun. I want them to have the same fun memories I have from my childhood. If they want to play in a ditch full of water, go outside barefoot, play in the dirt - or the rain, or even eat 4 popsicle's on a hot summer afternoon... I let them. Nothing tells me they've had more fun that scrubbing their dirty feet!

  1. Love it...couldnt agree more! Love the pic of Brad running in the rain with Ave. :)

  2. i love it!! im never gponna be that free as a mom because i hate dirty feet but i love it and wish i could be!!! lol more power to them!!! let them play!!

  3. :) C has had the most fun playing in the endless mud puddles at our house this past week! Can you believe I even sent him out without him asking earlier this week?! Could I be letting up a little... I believe so! :)
    So glad A had such a good time in her first shower.

  4. love this! And you're so right; I'm a firm believer is letting KIDS be KIDS :-)

About Me

My photo
I am a photographer focused on infant, child, family, maternity, couples and senior photography. I shoot on location, at the location of your choice, in natural light.

I have loved taking pictures for as long as I can remember - anyone who knows me can tell you that. There is just something about it that makes me smile. After the birth of my first daugther, Delaney, my passion for photography ignited. 33 months later came her baby sister, Avery. I have had my camera in my hand every day since. There isn't a moment I want to miss... the tiny toes, the drool, the smiles, the simple things. My girls are my inspiration for everything. You will often find me in the background snapping those natural moments in life that I don't want to see people forget. Sometimes the best photographs are the ones that are unposed and candid. I love the feeling of capturing such sweet moments and will strive to bring your memories to life in a way that you love.
